포스트모더니즘과 현대 소셜 포스터(Social Poster) 표현 연구

Abstract

포스트모더니즘의 발생은 산업사회에서 후기 산업사회의 변화와 인간 평등사상 혹은 민주주의 사고의 확대가 그 요인으로 작용하였다. 포스트모더니즘은 60년대 후반부터 일기 시작하여 최근에는 전세계적으로 거의 모든 분야에서 그 의식의 전환을 가져오고 있는 하나의 예술사조이다. 그 중심적 동기는 모더니즘을 통해 수립된 고급문화와 저급문화의 엄격한 구분, 예술의 각 장르(genre)간 폐쇄성에 반발로 시작되어 다른 시대, 다른 문화로부터 양식과 이미지를 차용하거나 혼합, 접목시키는 방식이다. 또 다른 특징은 모더니즘적 문화와 사고방식이 세워놓은 엄격한 지배의 틀을 거부하는데 있다. 후기 산업사회가 가져온 고도의 전문화된 문화 영역간의 소통 불능상태를 타파하고 삶과 문화의 경계를 없애려고 한다. 이질적인 것들의 결합, 흑백논리 같은 이분론법의 해체, 이데올로기의 대립과 갈등 해소 등이 그것이다. 현대는 급속한 속도로 발전해 가고 있다. 20세기 인류는 이성과 과학에 기초한 가치관을 갖게 되었고 그러한 이성과 과학의 진보가 가져다준 물질적인 풍요와 생활의 편리함은 체계적이고 조직적인 구성력을 통해 문화전반에 걸친 획기적인 변화를 가져다 주었다. 그러나 부도덕한 환경과 복잡해진 현대사회의 각박한 변화에 올바른 가치관을 잃어버림으로 해서 다양한 문제점이 발생하고, 현대에 들어서면서 사회문제로 더욱 심화되었다. 이에 본 연구에서는 이러한 현대사회에서 나타나는 사회문제를 포스트모더니즘의 특징과 함께 표현하고자 한다. 이론적 배경으로 제2장에서는 포스트모더니즘의 등장배경과 개념, 유형과 표현양식의 특징을 살펴볼 것이다. 일반적 특성과 함께 포스트모더니즘 시각디자인에서의 특성을 이론적으로 알아본다. 제3장에서는 소셜 포스터의 정의 및 특성, 포스트모더니즘과 현대 소셜 포스터에 관하여 알아본다. 사회문제와 함께 현대 소셜 포스터가 갖는 특수성에 대해서도 알아보기로 한다. 이에 이론적 배경을 뒷받침하기 위해 소셜 포스터의 사례를 찾아본다. 현대 소셜 포스터 중에서도 포스트모던 포스터의 사례를 조사해 보기로 한다. 제4장에서는 지금까지의 이론을 바탕으로 현실에 대한 총체적이고 객관적인 인식과 비판의식을 근거로 한 현대사회문제를 표현해 본다. 작품표현 방법으로는 주로 포스트모더니즘의 표현 특성인 재현, 패러디, 이중코드, 은유 등을 활용한다. 제작의도 제작과정을 통하여 작품분석을 하며 결론을 내린다. 이 연구의 시각표현들은 경제, 환경, 정보화, 가족, 금연, 도시화, 여성, 마약으로 인한 문제를 표현한 작품들이다. 사회문제들 중에는 비교적 최근에 들어와서야 문제로 부각되고 있는 것들도 있다. 사회가 변화하고 복잡해짐에 따라 사회문제로 생각되는 문제 상황들도 바뀔 수 있다. 소셜 포스터는 사회적, 정치적 영역에 대해서도 중요한 의미를 가지고 있고, 우리 현실의 모델로 이해할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 이 현실을 비판할 수 있는 논리로 재구성할 수 있다.;Due to social changes and spread of human equality and democracy in the post industrial society, postmodernism, a trend of art, which appeared in the late 60's and has been influencing almost all the areas in our lives around the world, bringing about a paradigm shift. Originally, it began as an opposition to the strict division between high and low culture established by modernism and lack of communication among genres of art. Postmodernism employs the methods to borrow, fuse and implant forms and images from different ages and cultures. Besides, it defies the old governing framework of culture and ways of thinking of modernism and destroys the boundaries existing among lives and cultures, solving such problems caused by barriers of interaction among highly specialized areas of culture in this post industrial society as difficulty of fusion of different elements, dichotomy of good and bad, and conflicts of ideology. As our society has been rapidly developing, human beings in the 20th century began to build up their values on the basis of their own reason and scientific ideas, while material abundance and convenient ways of living possible by the development of reason an d science lead to dramatic and systematic changes throughout all the areas of society. However, deteriorating environment and huge social changes have caused various problems because of the loss of right values, which are getting serious more and more these days. In this regard, this study is to examine these social problems taking into consideration of characteristics of postmodernism. Chapter 2 will discuss the concept of postmodernism, its historical background, types and ways of expression derived from postmodernism. In chapter 3, we will examine definition and characteristics of social poster as well as relationship between postmodernism and social poster. Chapter 4 will explain the problems of modern society on the ground of the theories mentioned so far. In addition, expressionist features of postmodernism, which are the best factors to present theme effectively, will be considered. Through the analysis of the purpose and process of production of artistic works, we will suggest a conclusion. The visual expressions employed in this study basically deal with social problems, using everyday objects, each of which has different meaning and are reorganized on the one single screen into a new meaning through postmodernism techniques. Social poster, which is meaningful both socially and politically, is understandable through the models from real world and able to be reorganized from the critical point of view of modern society.
