Title: Psychological dynamics in the metaverse: evaluating perceived values, attitude, and behavioral intention in metaverse events
Ewha Authors: 최영준
Abstract: This study investigated the underlying psychological mechanisms associated with metaverse events. By adopting a mixed methods approach, Study 1 found three major themes: "immersive experience", "escapism", and "game changer". Study 2 highlighted the substantial influence of traditional and metaverse-specific perceived values on attitude, with the exception of the functional value relating to price. In addition, the moderating roles of playfulness (high vs. low) and psychological distance (high vs. low) were found to be significant in the relationship between attitude and behavior. The results provide meaningful implications in light of event participants' reactions to the novel technology that enables metaverse events.

Title: Spillover effects in destination advertising: An electroencephalography study
Ewha Authors: 최영준
Abstract: As more destination advertisements are uploaded on short video-sharing platforms, investigating the effects of in-stream advertising on destination advertising is important. This study examines the spillover effects of residual arousal produced by a prior advertisement on subsequent destination video advertising. It develops and tests new hypotheses by connecting outside appearance (emotion and behavioural intention) and inside neural mechanism (brain activity) using electroencephalography. This study contributes to the theoretical advancement of increasing the explanation power of excitation transfer theory applied to destination advertising. Results confirm the spillover effect. Residual excitation was found to energise female (rather than male) arousal significantly. The participants exposed to the prior advertisement are more likely to visit the advertised travel destinations than those who were not. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd

Title: The Influences of Supportive Leadership and Family Social Support on Female Managers’ Organizational Effectiveness: The Mediating Effect of Positive Spillover between Work and Family
Ewha Authors: 박윤희
Abstract: This study aims to examine the influence of supportive leadership and family social support for female managers on organizational effectiveness and test the mediating effect of positive spillover between work and family (PSWF). This study utilized data of 974 married female managers from the 6th Korean Female Manager Panel (KWMP) survey to analyze the relationship between the latent variables. Hypotheses of this study were tested using Structural Equation Model Analysis (SEM). This study found that supportive leadership and PSWF have a positive influence on female managers’ organizational effectiveness. However, family support had no significant effect on the organizational effectiveness of female managers. The analysis showed that supportive leadership and family social support positively influenced female manager’s PSWF. Also, PSWF mediated the relationship between family social support and organizational effectiveness as well as between supportive leadership and organizational effectiveness. This study provides a better understanding of PSWF as a mediator between family social support and organizational effectiveness. Contrary to previous studies that focused on the negative effects of work-family conflicts, this study highlighted the role of PSWF, justifying the need for governmental or organizational programs to increase PSWF. © 2023 by the authors.

Title: Understanding Antecedents That Affect Customer Evaluations of Head-Mounted Display VR Devices through Text Mining and Deep Neural Network
Ewha Authors: 윤혜정
Abstract: Although the market for Head-Mounted Display Virtual Reality (HMD VR) devices has been growing along with the metaverse trend, the product has not been as widespread as initially expected. As each user has different purposes for use and prefers different features, various factors are expected to influence customer evaluations. Therefore, the present study aims to: (1) analyze customer reviews of hands-on HMD VR devices, provided with new user experience (UX), using text mining, and artificial neural network techniques; (2) comprehensively examine variables that affect user evaluations of VR devices; and (3) suggest major implications for the future development of VR devices. The research procedure consisted of four steps. First, customer reviews on HMD VR devices were collected from Amazon.com. Second, candidate variables were selected based on a literature review, and sentiment scores were extracted. Third, variables were determined through topic modeling, in-depth interviews, and a review of previous studies. Fourth, an artificial neural network analysis was performed by setting customer evaluation as a dependent variable, and the influence of each variable was checked through feature importance. The results indicate that feature importance can be derived from variables, and actionable implications can be identified, unlike in general sentiment analysis. © 2023 by the authors.
