E XX 0@ XX ̹qĳ@ XՌ 0 L8 | ) X \ $| XՔ t \ <\ ̸.;The objective of this study was to assess the effects of the shape of incisal edge in maxillary incisors on the position of the bracket in indirect bonding technique with computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM).
Five maxillary dental castes were first altered to flat models, which the incisal edge of four incisors were flattened, and then to mamelon models, which the incisal edges were build-up to present three lobes of mamelon with 0.6mm height. The position of the brackets was determined on both flat and mamelon virtual models by CAD, which was then transferred to the rapid prototype (RP) models with indirect bonding technique. Virtual models of the initially intended bracket positioned model and the final actual bracket positioned model were superimposed to measure the errors in bracket placement. Wilcoxon signed rank test was conducted for statistical analysis (p<0.05).
Errors in linear distance had the largest mean height value of 0.10mm, and maximum height error of 0.33mm in central incisors of the mamelon group. For lateral incisors, mean height value of 0.16mm, and maximum height error of 0.49mm were the largest linear error which were also detected from the mamelon group. Frequency analysis showed that 35% of lateral incisors of the mamelon group presented more than 0.2mm in-out and height error, which were the greatest.
Angular errors in central incisors had the largest mean value of 6.28 in angulation from the flat group, and maximum error of 11.25 in angulation from the mamelon group. For lateral incisors, mean angulation error of 3.82from the flat group, and maximum torque error of 12.75 from the mamelon group were the largest angular error. Frequency analysis showed that 30% of central incisors of the mamelon group presented more than 8 degrees torque error, which were the greatest.
Bracket placement errors in CAD/CAM indirect bonding may clinically be detected more in the anterior teeth which have irregular incisal edges than in teeth with flat incisal edges.&HQsj&
